David Garrard has left the New York Jets. Garrard's knee couldn't take the pressure of football practice with the Jets. Garrard texted Adam Schein at SiriusXM radio saying, "having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do."
Garrard left the Jaguars two years ago with a back injury that required surgery and kept him out a year. Last season he was topping the depth chart in Miami with the Dolphins, but his season never made it out of training camp with a knee injury that required surgery.
The Jets competition at quarterback will now focus on Mark Sanchez and second round draft pick Geno Smith. New York released Tim Tebow two weeks ago.
